Community Leaders Invited to Focus Group on LSTA Long Range Plan

on November 1, 2011 - 3:37pm

Dear Community Leader,

We invite you or your representative to participate in a focus group about the best way to meet the information and learning needs of Florida residents and the government and community agencies that serve them.

The Florida Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services receives federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to be used to help Florida libraries meet the information and learning needs of the residents of Florida.  These federal funds are used based on a Five-Year Plan approved by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the federal agency that administers LSTA funds.  The purposes of the funding are attached to this invitation.

It is time to evaluate the way we have used LSTA funds in the current plan and to prepare a new plan for the next five years.  We would like to invite you or your representative to a focus group that will explore:

  • Trends and issues your agency and/or constituency face.
  • Ways that Florida's public, school, and college and university libraries might help you meet those needs.
  • The role of libraries in modern Florida.
